    Janet Trautwein

    Janet Trautwein Executive VP and CEO of NAHU

    Janet Trautwein is the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) in Washington, D.C. Her responsibilities include oversight of all NAHU activities and primary representation of the association to the media, government agencies and elected officials at all levels.

    Prior to becoming the EVP & CEO of NAHU in 2005, Janet served for many years as the head of NAHU's government affairs department, directing the government and political affairs of the organization.

    A frequent speaker on health policy issues, Janet is considered an expert in health insurance markets and health plans of all sizes and frequently testifies before Congress on these issues. Her expertise in issues related to the uninsured, health insurance pools, risk and reinsurance pooling, health-related tax issues, and both national and global health reform has been recognized throughout the industry. In 2004, Janet received the Harold R. Gordon Memorial Award, which honors the “Health Insurance Person of the Year” and is considered to be the most prestigious award in the health insurance industry. Every year since 2006, Janet has been named one of the 100 most powerful people in the insurance industry. She has been published in major newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Los Angeles Times and she has appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs around the world.

    Michelle OsborneDr. Michele Flynn Osborne, Chief Deputy Commissioner of Insurance

    North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey appointed Campbell Business adjunct faculty member Dr. Michelle Osborne as chief deputy commissioner. In her role, she works directly with the commissioner in service as a policy advisor. Osborne’s educational background includes an MBA from Campbell University and Doctorate of Business Administration from George Fox University. She has worked in the insurance industry since 1990, starting two insurance agencies from scratch, Allstate and an independent Erie Insurance agency. She worked the latter 16 years of that time as a district sales manager for a Fortune 500 company. Her responsibilities included recruiting, managing and training insurance agents throughout North Carolina.

    President of NAHU

    Mike currently serves as the NAHU President on the Board of Trustees. Prior to being elected to the NAHU Executive committee, Mike served on the Board of Trustees as the Region Vice President from 2010 through 2013

    Prior to this role, he held numerous leadership positions in Michigan, including President of Michigan AHU, President of Metro Detroit AHU, and Legislative Chairperson for both Metro Detroit and Michigan AHU chapters.  He also had the pleasure of serving as Region 3 HUPAC chairperson.

    For the past 33 years, Mike has dedicated his career to the insurance industry, it’s agents and clients.  In 1989 Mike founded and ran his own small benefits planning agency. In 1996, Mike founded the employee benefits practice at Michigan-based Comerica Insurance Services. In 2014 Mike purchased the Employee Benefits practice from Comerica and opened Comprehensive Benefits, Inc. Mike has been a very active member of NAHU since 1993. 

    Mike’s passion for NAHU and legislative issues was recognized early on.  He received NAHU’s Distinguished Service Award, NAHU’s Legislative Achievement Award and NAHU’s Triple Crown award annually since it’s inception in 2004.  Mike became a lifetime and qualifying member of LPRT in 2009 and has been a member of the Soaring Eagle Club for the past 5 years.   

    Jeff KiserVice President of Sales & Marketing, Aetna

    Jeff Kiser is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Aetna.  In this capacity, Jeff is responsible for all new sales and account management activities in the East Region of the Carolinas.  Jeff has over 22-years of health executive experience including leadership roles with WakeMed Health & Hospitals where he served as Director of Managed Care Contracting and with UnitedHealthcare where he served as Director of Network Management for North Carolina.  Jeff is an Eagle Scout and is also very active in the community where he has served on boards for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Raleigh Alumni Association and the YMCA.  Jeff holds a B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.

    Mr. Buckner started out as an attorney for Blue Cross NC and has held various sales management positions within the company over the past 15 years.  He has also held leadership positions at the North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

    ZanniStephen Zanni, Blue Cross NC

    Steve Zanni leads a team of account executives at Blue Cross NC who focus on collaborating with agents and employer groups to create the right ancillary solutions for their specific needs. With more than 18 years’ experience in the ancillary insurance industry, including 6+ years at Blue Cross NC, Steve’s diverse background has spanned underwriting, operations, and marketing - all focused on ancillary lines of business. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts.

    MontressaMontressa Sheed, Director Individual Sales, Blue Cross NC

    A graduate of North Carolina Central University (NCCU), Montressa Sneed joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina in 1994 as a customer service representative.  Over the past 20 years, Montressa has held several different positions before rising to her current role as Director, Individual Sales Market.  Montressa is responsible for managing a statewide sales team concentrated on sales activity in the Small Group and Under 65 Individual markets through independent agents.  This includes managing agent relationships and supporting the overall activity that agents have Blue Cross. Montressa has been recognized corporately for multiple achievements throughout her career such as Small Group Account Manager of the Year and CEO Award Winner.  She was the Sales Manager MVP for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

    Louis A. Newsome

    Pharmacy Account Executive
    UnitedHealthcare/OptumRx 

     

    As a Pharmacy Account Executive with UnitedHealthcare/OptumRx, Louis is responsible for strategic planning and consultation in direct support of key accounts’ integrated pharmacy and medical business.  Louis collaborates with clients and the overall account management team to access pharmacy performance and develop targeted solutions that meet the clients’ pharmacy management and total health care objectives.  He is also responsible for channeling customer needs and expectations into the pharmacy organization to ensure appropriate customer focus in the broader pharmacy organization’s strategies, priorities, initiatives and service performance.

    Louis joined UnitedHealth Group as a health plan pharmacy manager in 2000 and held several positions within the organization before moving into his current role as Pharmacy Account Executive.  Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, he spent nearly 20 years as a practicing pharmacist and manager in both hospital (WakeMed – Raleigh, NC) and multi-specialty ambulatory clinic (Kaiser Permanente of NC) settings. 

    Louis received his pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina. at Chapel Hill.

    Carolyn’s primary responsibility is for the training and development of TASC’s Group Sales Force and TASC Distribution Channel Partners to increase their product knowledge of ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ACA. She serves as the TASC - ERISA Compliance officer working with internal staff as well as TASC legal counsel on TASC compliance issues and opportunities.

    Her role also includes conducting National Seminars and Webinars to educate the TASC Group Sales Force, Employee Benefit Consultants, General Agents, Insurance Carrier Sales Staff, Providers and employers on ERISA/FMLA/COBRA/FSA/ACA legal requirements. Carolyn has presented at numerous local and State SHRM events, local and State NAHU and at the NAHU National conference. She conducts an average of 100+ Seminars/Webinars annually.

    Joe Spinelli is a co-founder and CCO of MedTek21, where he oversees program design, utilization, and data analysis for personalized medication risk management programs run by over 250 clinical, corporate, and facility groups.  Prior to joining the founding team of MedTek21, Joe spent over fifteen years as both an operator and investor in the healthcare IT, Finance, and Consumer sectors.  Joe has a BS, summa cum laude, from Babson College and was the recipient of the Earl K Bowen Award for excellence in quantitative methods.

    Billy Jordan Jr. is an accomplished Insurance Agent and CEO of The Jordan Insurance Agency, who helps clients achieve their health and life issuance goals without hassle. Billy has years of experience working with people who have been let down numerous of times by one insurance coverage or another. He’s identified the need for more customer-centric, and affordable insurance policies that can meet people exactly at the point of their needs. 

    Therefore, he launched his own insurance company over a decade ago. The Jordan Insurance Agency is an organization that specializes not only in Health Insurance, but Health Sharing Programs, Life, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, Vision and Dental Insurance with focus on the client’s satisfaction. In 2018, the agency is now launching a Home and Auto Insurance division, giving customers a one-stop approach for doing business.

    Billy holds contracts with organizations for health insurance such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Shared Health Alliance and many others. In additions to traditional insurance, Billy offers health sharing programs such as Medi-Share, and Aliera Healthcare. With this broad portfolio of products, he is able to serve clients in all 50 States.

    His mantra is to meet the health, financial, and retirement security needs of all Americans through education, advocacy, and professional development.

    Billy has proven accomplishments as a Board Member of the Charlotte Health Underwriters Association (CHUA) for 2 years, and a member of the National Association Health Underwriters in 2012. He has also served as the Endorsed Local Provider (ELP) for the Dave Ramsey Show listener in the Charlotte and surrounding markets for more than six years now.

    Ron Bruno

    Mr. Bruno has over 30 years’ experience in the development of companies from multiple sectors of the business arena. Mr. Bruno’s experiences as an entrepreneur range from program development, fundraising within the public and private sector, investor relations, commercial and residential development, construction and financing industry. He developed, funded and operated commercial correctional facilities from 1986 to 2002, building the company into a one of a kind program for the State of Texas. Mr. Bruno, through his guidance, built 3 facilities during his 16 years as director of his own facilities within the correctional industry. Furthermore, in 1986 Mr. Bruno became the youngest Licensed Administrator in the State of Texas. His experience as a Board Director and CEO of both Non-Profit and For-Profit corporations enabled him to oversee several hundreds of employees, as well as full operation oversight of the multiple companies and facilities developed under his direct supervision. Mr. Bruno has the expertise in the commercial design and construction, corporate policies and procedure, employee policies and training, development of marketing and sales material, as well as the public speaking and presentation.

    Prior to assuming the role of VP Business Development for Crown HealthShare Administrators, Inc., in December 2014, Mr. Bruno built multiple businesses in Austin, Texas, that included commercial and residential development, oil and gas service company, as well as a corporate restructuring company. These companies combined generated over $600 million dollars in sales and revenue. Mr. Bruno resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife Felicia, of 21 years and are very active in their church and youth programs. Mr. Bruno and his wife have been fitness trainers for many years as well and are the developers of the health and wellness program, COR: 6 Fitness, which will soon be implemented into the Altrua Ministries Program.
